U.S. Department of Justice Seizes Additional 15 Million USDT Owned by North Korean Criminals

The U.S. Department of Justice has seized an additional 15 million Tether (USDT) from North Korean criminals. This is part of measures to respond to North Korea's cybercrime activities.

On the 14th (local time), according to crypto-specialized media CoinDesk, the U.S. Department of Justice tracked and seized 15 million USDT that had been held by a North Korean criminal organization during a recent investigation. The seized assets were Tether's stablecoin USDT, and the exact type of crime was not disclosed.

The Department of Justice has pointed out that criminals linked to hacking groups supported by the North Korean government continue to launder money using virtual assets. The U.S. government is concerned that assets they have stolen could be used for illegal activities such as nuclear and missile programs.

This seizure was reported to have been carried out with cooperation from U.S. intelligence agencies and international investigative agencies. The U.S. Department of Justice plans to continue robust measures to block illicit financial flows through virtual assets.
