Summary
- Taiko Stack announced that it has been selected as the underlying technology for the Ethereum Name Service (ENS)'s new Layer 2 blockchain, Namechain.
- ENS said it will adopt Taiko's zero-knowledge (ZK) rollup and validator-driven block sequencing structure to achieve full decentralization and fast speeds.
- ENS, Taiko, and Nethermind said they are developing with the goal of launching a public testnet in the second quarter of 2026.

Taiko (TAIKO), an Ethereum (ETH) rollup project, announced on the 18th that Taiko's stack has been adopted as the underlying technology for the Ethereum Name Service (ENS)'s Namechain. Namechain is a new Layer 2 blockchain that ENS is pursuing.
ENS will introduce Taiko's technology through Nethermind's Surge framework to build a zero-knowledge (ZK) rollup. Since Taiko's mainnet launch in 2024, it has continuously processed over 50 million transactions, and has implemented sub-one-second speed and a preconfirmation (preconfirmation) feature in real-world environments.
The core of Namechain is validator-driven block sequencing. This structure grants the authority to determine transaction ordering directly to Ethereum validators rather than a central operator, enabling full decentralization without performance degradation.
Particularly, because Namechain's service requires verifying names on a per-second basis, speed is most important. They plan to realize this using Taiko's based rollup technology. ENS evaluated the adoption of this technology as "a chance to skip stages of gradual decentralization."
ENS, Taiko, and Nethermind will proceed with development aiming to launch a public testnet in the second quarter of 2026.
Taiko said, "ENS choosing a based rollup as a core infrastructure of the Ethereum ecosystem is a case that proves the technology's maturity," adding, "We will provide the performance and stability required by Namechain based on validator-driven sequencing and preconfirmation technology."
