The Korea Financial Security Institute will hold a seminar titled 'Next Finance: Digital Finance and Security Strategies Opened by Stablecoins' at Bulls Hall of the Korea Financial Investment Association in Yeouido on the 28th.

According to the Korea Financial Security Institute on the 19th, this seminar was organized to discuss security enhancement measures and directions for building related infrastructure for safe issuance and distribution ahead of second-phase virtual asset legislation, including regulation of won-denominated stablecoins.

The event will begin with a policy trend explanation by Shim Won-tae, official of the Virtual Assets Division at the Financial Services Commission. Afterwards, industry, legal, and technical experts will present practical issues such as security, infrastructure, and anti-money laundering (AML) to establish a trust foundation for stablecoins.

Discussions on future application possibilities will also follow. Ryu Changbo, team leader at NH Nonghyup Bank, will introduce domestic application areas for stablecoins based on overseas cases, and Shin Sang-hoon, senior advisor at Kim & Chang law firm, will present AML response strategies against proliferation. Song Eung-jun, senior manager at LG CNS, will explain the design direction of stablecoin infrastructure based on CBDC infrastructure construction experience, and Heo Se-kyung, team leader at the Korea Financial Security Institute, will present security elements to consider when building infrastructure.
