Summary

  • Bitwise said it submitted the final filing 8-A for the XRP ETF.
  • It said an NYSE listing is imminent, and this is expected to increase XRP liquidity and the inflow of institutional funds.
  • It said that if the first large spot XRP ETF listing occurs in the U.S., it could bring meaningful changes to the market.

Bitwise submitted the final filing, 8-A, for an XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF). The industry views it as likely that trading could begin on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) later that day or the following day.

On the 19th (local time), virtual asset (cryptocurrency) specialized media U.Today reported that Bitwise officially filed the 8-A document for the XRP ETF listing. The 8-A is the final step for exchange registration prior to listing, and after submission the remaining process until listing includes only technical registration.

This action followed the S-1 filing submitted last month, and the industry has assessed that it has "entered the final approval stage." However, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has not yet made an official approval public.

The market expects that the ETF launch could promote increased XRP liquidity and inflows of institutional funds.

Bitwise will further expand its digital asset product lineup with this ETF launch. If an NYSE listing actually occurs, the first large spot ETF with XRP as the underlying asset would appear in the U.S. market.
