Korbit, a domestic virtual asset exchange, said on the 24th that its Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Lee Jung-woo attended the 'C-Suite Roundtable for Financial Firms Preparing for 2026' held at The Westin Chosun Seoul on the 18th of this month and gave a presentation on the theme 'Stablecoins, a new opportunity?'.

This year's event, which marked its eighth edition, was organized by Amazon Web Services (AWS) Korea's financial customer team. This year's theme was 'Financial Trends Preparing for 2026', and about 50 executives from major domestic banks, securities firms, and card companies attended.

The roundtable was arranged to share insights on cloud innovation in the financial sector as well as on stablecoins and financial artificial intelligence (AI) agents, which are considered key trends for next year. The CTO served as the first session presenter that day and mentioned recent stablecoin use cases from global fintech company Stripe and global investment bank J.P. Morgan.

In particular, the CTO detailed the current status of stablecoins being practically used, focusing on cross-border payments. A Korbit official explained, "(The CTO) attracted high interest from attendees by analyzing the potential opportunities and risks of a Korean-won stablecoin business in a balanced way from an expert perspective."

The CTO also presented a vision to prepare for the era of AI agents, which has recently become a hot topic in the information technology (IT) industry. Specifically, he referenced cases such as the payment MCP (Model Context Protocol) and the x402 protocol of the U.S. virtual asset exchange Coinbase, and predicted that AI agents could lead stablecoin payment systems in the future.

The CTO said, "It was meaningful to share the innovativeness of stablecoins and the latest global cases with leaders of traditional financial institutions," and added, "Going forward, Korbit will continue to take the lead in creating tangible value through technological innovation and cost reduction with blockchain as a new financial infrastructure."
