Elon Musk, Tesla CEO, criticized Reuters, saying it "constantly lies." The U.S. Government Efficiency Office (DOGE) also directly denied and refuted the recent Reuters report.

On the 25th (local time), DOGE's official account on X (formerly Twitter) said, "Reuters' reporting is fake news as usual," and "President Trump has been given the people's mandate to modernize the federal government and reduce waste, fraud, and abuse." It added, "DOGE terminated 78 wasteful contracts last week, saving $335 million," and explained, "the regular Friday update will be released within a few days."

Musk quoted this post and wrote, "Reuters constantly lies."

Earlier on the 23rd, Reuters reported, citing government officials, that DOGE was effectively disbanded, eight months before its July 2026 scheduled end of activity. The rebuttals from DOGE and Musk are interpreted as responses to that article.
