KOSPI starts higher on institutional and individual buying… battle over '100,000-won' Samsung Electronics

The KOSPI opened trading on an uptrend, thanks to buying by institutions and individuals. Samsung Electronics even briefly regained the 100,000-won level right after the open.
As of 9:04 a.m. on the 26th, the KOSPI was trading at 3,879.58, up 21.80 points (0.57%) from the previous day.
Institutions and individuals are buying stocks worth 65.1 billion won and 28.7 billion won, respectively, in the KOSPI market. Foreigners are selling 95.6 billion won worth of cash stocks, but are net-buying KOSPI 200 futures worth 178.8 billion won.
Top market-cap stocks are mostly on the rise.
Samsung Electronics is trading firm. In the early session it rose more than 1% and recovered the 100,000-won level, but has since fallen back.
SK Hynix is down 1.93%. This appears to be due to weakness in Nvidia shares in the overnight New York market.
LG Energy Solution is up 2.42%.
Hyundai Motor (1.17%), Doosan Enerbility (2.59%), and Hanwha Aerospace (1.28%) are also showing strength.
Samsung Biologics has continued to be weak since its re-listing and is down 1.04% today.
The KOSDAQ is trading at 661.50, up 5.47 points (0.64%) from the previous day. In this market, individuals are buying 25.1 billion won worth of stocks, while foreigners and institutions are selling 21.7 billion won and 1.4 billion won worth, respectively.
Top market-cap stocks on the KOSDAQ are mostly rising.
In particular, EcoPro BM and EcoPro are standing out, up 2.47% and 2.93%, respectively.
ABL Bio is also up 1.81%.
Overnight, the New York market closed higher on expectations of a rate cut by the U.S. central bank (Fed). AI-themed strength centered on Google continued, but Nvidia weakened as tensor processing units (TPUs) were highlighted. On the 25th (local time) at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 47,112.45, up 664.18 points (1.43%), the S&P 500 index closed at 6,765.88, up 60.76 points (0.91%), and the Nasdaq Composite closed at 23,025.59, up 153.59 points (0.67%).
