Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange KuCoin has obtained the European Union's (EU) MiCA license.
On the 28th (local time), according to CoinDesk, KuCoin EU announced that it had obtained a MiCA license in Austria that day. KuCoin EU is KuCoin's European subsidiary. KuCoin EU said, "(With the license acquisition) we are now able to provide regulated services across the European Economic Area (EEA)."
Earlier, on the 25th, KuCoin also completed cryptocurrency exchange registration with Australian authorities. CoinDesk said, "The registration itself is not a license, but it is a legal requirement for any company that wants to provide cryptocurrency trading services in Australia," adding, "(the exchange registration) means that the exchange can operate under the official supervision of the authorities."
Meanwhile, KuCoin is reported to have secured about 40 million users.
