Virtual asset (cryptocurrency) exchange Coinbase saw information requests from law enforcement agencies worldwide increase by 19% compared to last year.

On the 1st (local time), according to crypto-focused media Cointelegraph, Coinbase said in its annual transparency report "The total number of law enforcement information requests received from October last year to September this year was 12,716, a 19% increase compared to the previous year." Of the total requests, 53% came from countries outside the United States.

By country, the United States had the most requests, followed by Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and Australia. Coinbase said "these six countries accounted for 80% of all requests." It added that most requests were demands for the submission of materials related to criminal investigations, and that the pattern was similar to the previous year.
