Dunamu, which operates the digital asset exchange Upbit, announced on the 5th that it has created the third conservation site for endangered rare and native plants as part of the 'Seed Vault NFT Collection' Season 3.
The third conservation site of the 'Seed Vault NFT Collection' was set up in Boramae Park in Seoul, where Dunamu's 'Digital Healing Garden' for the 2025 Seoul International Garden Expo had been operated. In line with the theme of a garden in the city, a total of 28 rare and native plant species that are gradually disappearing in urban areas—produced as NFTs, including baechohyang and mulle-namul—were planted. Earlier, through Seasons 1 and 2, Dunamu planted 29 species of rare and native plants at Shingu University Botanical Garden and planted 48 varieties of rose of Sharon and 39 species of rare and native plants at the Jinhae Botanic Museum.
The 'Seed Vault NFT Collection' is a biodiversity conservation project that Dunamu is promoting as part of its ESG 'tree' initiative together with the Korea Arboretum and Garden Management Agency (Hansujeong) and the Environmental Foundation. It was designed to combine the characteristics of NFTs with environmental efforts to raise awareness of the rarity value of plant resources and contribute to the protection of the global ecosystem. The NFTs are produced based on images of seeds stored in the world's only wild plant seed conservation facility, the Baekdudaegan Global Seed Vault (Seed Vault, seed repository), and are issued through Upbit NFT.
Season 3 ran from May 14 to July 30 in connection with Dunamu's 'Digital Healing Garden' at the 2025 Seoul International Garden Expo. Through on-site events, visitors were given NFTs of rare and native plants that matched their preferences, and seeds of the corresponding species were also provided so that the NFTs could translate into actual plantings.
Oh Kyung-seok, CEO of Dunamu, said, "The 'Seed Vault NFT Collection' is an example that shows technology can be a means of 'protection' rather than a symbol of 'destruction' in environmental issues," adding, "We will continue to discover the social value of technology and build a foundation for a sustainable future."
