"U.S. CFTC launches new Innovation Council…many CEOs of major global exchanges named"

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) launched a chief executive advisory body to discuss derivatives market structure and blockchain-based infrastructure, naming heads of major global exchanges as its first members.

On the 11th (local time), Eleanor Terrett, a Crypto AM host, reported that "CFTC Acting Director Caroline D. Pham announced the first members of the new CFTC CEO Innovation Council." She explained that the council is an official forum to discuss the overall structure of the derivatives market.

Terrett said the council will "discuss core agendas such as tokenization, perpetual derivatives, prediction markets, 24-hour trading structure, and blockchain-based infrastructure." The council is expected to serve as a coordination channel between regulators and private market participants.

Market observers say that because many CEOs of major global exchanges are included, the council could influence the regulatory direction of the digital asset market. The CFTC has recently expanded the scope of oversight for digital asset derivatives and strengthened official communication channels with the industry.
