Coinbase, the largest U.S. virtual asset (cryptocurrency) exchange, appears set to formalize its entry into the tokenized stocks and prediction market businesses. The 'all-in-one financial app' strategy, which spans not only virtual asset trading but also stocks and event contracts, appears to be gaining momentum.

According to multiple sources, Coinbase is expected to unveil new services related to tokenized stocks and prediction markets at a product showcase event held on the 17th. Tokenized stocks are reported to be launched directly through Coinbase's internal infrastructure rather than through external partners.

Coinbase executives had previously indicated their intention to enter the related businesses, but this is the first time they have officially announced concrete launch plans. Recently, images suggesting tokenized stock and prediction market features within the Coinbase app spread via X, heightening market expectations.

This move coincides with a trend of prediction markets offering 'event contracts' on various topics—sports, elections, news, entertainment, and more—spreading across the United States. Previously, Robinhood launched prediction market products in cooperation with Kalshi, and Kraken and Robinhood have introduced tokenized stock and ETF trading services outside the U.S.

Market growth is also steep. According to rwa.xyz, which aggregates blockchain-based stock trading data, the monthly transfer volume of tokenized stocks increased by 32% over the past month, reaching $1.45 billion.

Coinbase said, "Please check the new products via the livestream on December 17."
