Global e-commerce company Amazon is reportedly in talks to invest more than US$10 billion (about 15 trillion won) in OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT.
On the 16th (local time), Bloomberg and the Financial Times (FT) reported that Amazon recently entered such talks with OpenAI. Amazon's valuation of OpenAI is said to be at least US$500 billion (about 740 trillion won).
One source told Bloomberg, "The deal could include OpenAI using Amazon Web Services (AWS)'s own artificial intelligence (AI) chip 'Trainium'." Another source told the Financial Times, "(The deal) would include the use of Trainium and an expansion of AWS cloud leases."
Meanwhile, the investment talks are reported to be at an early stage.
