Christopher Waller, a member of the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed), is reported to have interviewed with President Trump regarding the Fed chairmanship.
On the 19th, crypto-specialist media BlockBeats, citing CNBC, reported that "Governor Waller and President Trump had a 'productive interview' over the Fed chairmanship." The interview reportedly focused on labor market conditions and measures to expand employment as key agenda items.
The interview took place at the presidential residence and reportedly concluded just before President Trump delivered a nationwide economic address that evening. The meeting was attended by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, and Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino.
According to officials, BlackRock's Rick Rieder, global fixed income chief investment officer (CIO), is also scheduled to be interviewed at Mar-a-Lago in Florida in the last week of the year.
By contrast, Fed Governor Michelle Bowman was reportedly excluded from the list of candidates for Fed chair. Officials emphasized that the interview involved wide-ranging discussions about employment and the broader economy, and said outside concerns that President Trump is seeking a candidate who will simply comply with his position on interest rates are not true.
