The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of the Financial Services Commission has included virtual asset price manipulation transactions among types of suspicious money laundering transactions.
On the 22nd, the FIU announced at the Open Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Related Agencies Council that it had fully revised the 「Reference Casebook of Suspicious Transactions for Money Laundering」. The revised casebook includes suspicious transaction types related to crimes that infringe on livelihoods targeting vulnerable groups and cross-border crimes, as well as suspicious transaction types related to unfair stock trading and virtual asset price manipulation.
The FIU explained that this revision reflects the latest trends in suspicious money laundering transactions in the casebook.
The revised casebook is scheduled to be published as a book in early next year, and, considering concerns about criminal misuse, it will be distributed to anti-money laundering officers at financial companies, etc.
