Global web3 venture capital firm Hashed announced on the 23rd that Libere, an Indonesian web3 project affiliated with 'Protocol Camp', took second place at the 'Infinity Hackathon' co-hosted by Indonesia's Ministry of Creative Economy and the Financial Services Authority (OJK). Protocol Camp is a blockchain talent development program operated by Hashed together with its subsidiary Shard Labs.
Libere proposed an on-chain public library system using blockchain and non-fungible token (NFT) technology at the hackathon. The core is to increase the transparency and accessibility of public cultural infrastructure by focusing on implementing digital content ownership management, creator compensation structures, and public institution governance on the blockchain.
Libere is a web3-based digital content distribution infrastructure for publishers, libraries, and public institutions. It aims to transparently implement the lawful distribution of digital books and the copyright and royalty settlement processes using blockchain technology. The project is currently being developed as an actual building task in the Protocol Camp 2025 program.
The award is seen as demonstrating the presence of the Indonesian developer community, which is growing alongside developers from countries across Asia including Korea, Japan, India, Thailand, and the Philippines. After participating in Protocol Camp, Libere continued project development and is conducting initial joint research and pilot discussions in collaboration with Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and the Bandung city government. Libere will also participate in the Protocol Camp final presentation session to be held next month in Tokyo, Japan.
Teuku Riefky, Minister of Indonesia's Ministry of Creative Economy, said, "Libere is an example of young Indonesian developers demonstrating their technical skills and problem-solving capabilities on the international stage," adding, "It is significant that solutions that can contribute to both the creative economy and public services are emerging."
Kim Seojun, CEO of Hashed, said, "Protocol Camp is a program that began with the belief that good systems start from deep consideration," and added, "I highly appreciate that teams like Libere are approaching technology with this awareness of the problems."
