International silver prices exceeded $80 per ounce for the first time.

According to Bloomberg on the 29th (Korean time), the international silver spot price reached an all-time high of $84.0075 per ounce as of 8:21 a.m. that day. Afterwards, the silver spot price was recording $80.1575 at around 2:40 p.m.

Silver, both a representative precious metal and an industrial commodity, has been rapidly soaring in price this year due to factors such as supply shortages and cuts in the U.S. benchmark interest rate. It has jumped 182% so far this year. It is expected to have the highest annual rate of increase since 1979, when oil prices surged due to the Iranian revolution.

At the same time, the spot price of gold is trading at $4,517.94 per ounce. The intraday record high was $4,549.92 recorded on the 27th.

Meanwhile, the international copper price on the 29th (local time) at the London Metal Exchange rose 6.6% from the previous close to $12,960 per t, approaching the $13,000 level. Copper prices first exceeded $12,000 per t on the 23rd.

Expectations that the U.S. Donald Trump administration may impose additional tariffs on copper next year have led to a 'hoarding' phenomenon, and multiple factors such as the weak dollar effect, concerns about supply shortages, and a boom in precious metals markets are pushing up copper prices.
