Iran strongly reacted to U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks suggesting 'intervention in Iranian protests' by sending an official letter of protest to the United Nations (UN). Tensions have risen as Iran indicated it would not rule out military action if the United States actually took measures.

On the 2nd (local time), according to Walter Bloomberg, the Iranian government condemned President Trump's remarks in a letter sent to UN Secretary-General António Guterres as "a reckless and clear interference in internal affairs that violates international law."

In the letter, Iran reaffirmed "our inherent right to defend sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security," and warned that "it will undertake decisive and proportionate responses to any foreign attack or intervention."

Earlier, President Trump warned regarding anti-government protests in Iran, "If the Iranian government begins to kill protesters, the United States is ready to intervene to protect the protesters."
