The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has officially launched an Innovation Advisory Council centered on leaders from the virtual asset (cryptocurrency) industry.

According to crypto-focused media outlet CoinDesk on the 12th (local time), CFTC Chair Mike Selig reorganized the existing advisory body with a focus on innovation, naming as initial members the CEOs of major cryptocurrency firms including Gemini, led by Tyler Winklevoss, as well as Kraken, Crypto.com, Bitnomial, and Bullish.

The council includes not only virtual asset companies but also representatives from prediction-market platforms such as Polymarket and Kalshi, along with figures from traditional financial market operators including Nasdaq, CME, ICE, and Cboe.

Selig said, "The goal is to establish fit-for-purpose market structure regulation that reflects new technologies such as AI and blockchain," adding, "We will build a regulatory framework that can enhance market confidence without stifling innovation."
