Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, is reportedly participating in discussions on the U.S. cryptocurrency market structure bill known as the Clarity Act.
On the 15th (local time), Garlinghouse said on X that he is "currently at the table" for talks on the Clarity Act, adding that the bill "will move forward through a fair debate." He also said that "issues can be resolved during the markup process." Markup is the stage in which congressional committees conduct a final review of a bill before sending it to the full chamber.
Earlier, the U.S. Senate on the 13th released the full text of a draft Clarity Act negotiated between Republicans and Democrats. The Senate Banking Committee and the Senate Agriculture Committee had initially planned to hold a markup of the Clarity Act on the day, but the schedule was postponed.
Garlinghouse noted that the Senate’s draft Clarity Act "feels somewhat late." He said, however, that it represents "very significant progress" in that it establishes a regulatory framework applicable to cryptocurrencies while continuing consumer protection, adding that "Ripple and I know from firsthand experience that clarity is better than confusion." He went on to say that "the success of the Clarity Act will be the success of the crypto industry."
