Bitcoin infrastructure project 'GOAT Network' said on the 17th that it will work with Latin American fintech platform 'DitoBanx' to launch a non-custodial bitcoin (BTC) yield pilot program in Mexico.

Through the pilot, DitoBanx users in Mexico will be able to earn returns denominated in bitcoin while maintaining self-custody, keeping their bitcoin in their own possession. The two companies highlighted as a key differentiator that, unlike existing custodial bitcoin yield products, the structure does not involve a third party holding users' assets.

The model proposed by the partners is a hybrid structure in which regulators and fintechs handle access and distribution, while the yield mechanism is aligned with bitcoin’s trust-minimized principles. The program will be offered by integrating GOAT Network’s bitcoin yield solution, 'Safebox,' into DitoBanx’s compliance-focused mobile application. DitoBanx will be responsible for regulatory and onboarding functions such as know-your-customer (KYC) and fiat on-ramps, while GOAT Network will provide a bitcoin yield structure that operates without asset custody.

The Safebox pilot is designed on the premise of principal protection, and yields are paid in bitcoin. The source of returns is based on rewards from GOAT Network’s decentralized sequencer. This allows users to participate in a yield product without selling or wrapping bitcoin, or transferring ownership or control of their assets.

Pilot terms call for an annualized yield of about 1.5%, prorated over a three-month period. At the end of the pilot, users will be able to access both their principal bitcoin and any accrued returns.

Kevin Liu, a core contributor at GOAT Network, said, "Partnering with DitoBanx allows us to offer everyday users in Mexico bitcoin-based yield opportunities," adding that it is "an important step in presenting long-term sustainable financial options in emerging markets."

Guillermo Contreras, CEO for Latin America at DitoBanx, said, "This pilot is a turning point that enables users to hold bitcoin and earn returns while maintaining control of their private keys," adding that it "clearly demonstrates the direction of building user-centric financial infrastructure without compromising sovereignty, transparency, or security."
