Finnish President Alexander Stubb said the European Union (EU) has a range of tools to pressure the United States to withdraw its tariff threats.
According to Walter Bloomberg on the 19th (local time), President Stubb said, "The EU has a variety of policy and diplomatic options to respond to U.S. tariff threats." He added, "I do not think the United States will seize Greenland through military means."
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump, amid the Greenland issue, raised the possibility of imposing so-called "Greenland tariffs" on eight European countries and fueled controversy by saying he would not rule out the use of military force.
Some in the market are also suggesting that Bitcoin (BTC)’s short-term weakness seen earlier in the day is not unrelated to heightened geopolitical uncertainty stemming from escalating tensions between the United States and the EU over Greenland.
