Changpeng Zhao (CZ), founder of Binance, said "three areas—tokenization, payments and artificial intelligence (AI)—will be promising in the crypto industry going forward."

According to overseas media outlets including BlockBeats on the 22nd (local time), Zhao made the remarks while attending the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, saying that "exchanges and stablecoins have established themselves as mature segments of the crypto industry."

He first pointed to tokenization as a "very important direction." Zhao said, "If some assets are tokenized, governments can address financial issues more efficiently," adding that "(through tokenization) it can improve the efficiency of the financial system while also spurring the development of related industries and trading markets."

He went on to stress that "a new trend has emerged recently (in crypto payments)." Zhao explained that "traditional payment methods are being combined with cryptographic technology," citing a structure in which users pay with cards such as Visa and Mastercard and merchants receive fiat currency, but settlement behind the scenes is conducted via blockchain and stablecoins. He said "this model is gradually becoming a reality and will certainly grow going forward."

He also mentioned the synergies between AI and crypto. Zhao said, "The 'native currency' of AI agents will inevitably be crypto," adding that "blockchain is currently the most suitable technical interface for AI agents to use." He added, "When AI gains the ability to act and transact in the real world, crypto will become the most natural and fundamental means of payment and settlement."
