Chainlink joins WEMADE-led KRW stablecoin alliance GAKS
Summary
- Chainlink Labs said it has joined GAKS, a WEMADE-led alliance for KRW stablecoins.
- WEMADE said it expects Chainlink Labs’ participation to raise the technical maturity of the KRW stablecoin ecosystem and its global credibility.
- Chainlink Labs said it will support GAKS in setting technical standards and upgrading infrastructure to advance stablecoin and tokenized-asset businesses.

Chainlink Labs, the core developer behind oracle platform Chainlink, joined GAKS (Global Alliance for KRW Stablecoin), a WEMADE-led coalition for a won-denominated stablecoin, on the 27th.
Chainlink Labs develops and operates Chainlink, a leading oracle platform that connects real-economy data to blockchains. WEMADE expects Chainlink Labs’ participation to further enhance the technical maturity and global credibility of the KRW stablecoin ecosystem.
Launched in November last year, GAKS is an alliance formed to comply with global regulations—including Korean financial standards—and to expand real-world usage of KRW stablecoins. With Chainlink Labs joining, WEMADE plans to strengthen its competitiveness in global markets and accelerate the build-out of a trust-based KRW stablecoin infrastructure.
Chainlink Labs will support GAKS in establishing technical standards and advancing its infrastructure strategy. It will provide technical cooperation so member companies can leverage the Chainlink platform to identify institutional digital-asset use cases. WEMADE believes this will particularly help KRW stablecoins secure data integrity and stability that meet global financial market standards.
With this addition, GAKS now includes existing participants such as blockchain data analytics and compliance firm Chainalysis, blockchain security audit firm CertiK, and global fintech and cross-border remittance company SentBe, alongside Chainlink Labs. WEMADE said the alliance’s composition—spanning security, regulation, fintech and data infrastructure—has improved its overall completeness.
Johann Eid, Chief Business Officer (CBO) of Chainlink Labs, said, “WEMADE and the GAKS alliance are building core infrastructure that will lead the next stage of Korea’s digital asset market,” adding, “Through strategic partnerships, Chainlink will support member companies in advancing stablecoin and tokenized-asset businesses in Korea and the Asia-Pacific region.”
Kim Seok-hwan, Vice President at WEMADE, said, “Chainlink’s participation is a major turning point for GAKS in securing world-class technical maturity and trust,” adding, “We will work with global partners to build a sound KRW stablecoin ecosystem.”
