The KOSPI has turned lower intraday and is trading back in the 5,100 range. The KOSDAQ index is seesawing sharply.
As of 11:09 a.m. on the 29th, the KOSPI is down 26.64 points (0.52%) from the previous session at 5,144.17. The index set a new all-time high of 5,252.61 early in the session, then trended downward, sliding to as low as 5,073.12 around 10:27 a.m. It has since pared losses and is holding above 5,100.
In the main board market, foreigners and institutions are net sellers of 1.4621 trillion won and 934.5 billion won, respectively, weighing on the index. Individuals alone are net buyers of 2.3985 trillion won.
Most top market-cap names are in the red, including LG Energy Solution (-3.6%), Celltrion (-2.52%), HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (-1.88%), Hanwha Aerospace (-1.4%), Samsung C&T (-1.32%), Samsung Electronics (-1.11%) and Samsung Biologics (-1.01%).
SK Square (2.98%), Hyundai Motor (1.52%), Doosan Enerbility (1.09%) and Kia (1.07%) are gaining.
The KOSDAQ is up 17.07 points (1.51%) from the previous session at 1,150.59. It climbed to as high as 1,167.57 early in the session before turning lower and sinking to 1,108.43. It rebounded around 10:30 a.m. and moved back above 1,150.
In the KOSDAQ market, institutions are net buyers of 1.2060 trillion won and foreigners of 35.1 billion won. Individuals are net sellers of 1.1029 trillion won.
EcoPro BM (7.42%) and EcoPro (2.55%) have pushed aside Alteogen (-1.61%) to rank No. 1 and No. 2 by KOSDAQ market capitalization, respectively. Rainbow Robotics (8.78%), Caregen (6.5%), Rino Industrial (5.87%), Kolon TissueGene (5.76%), Wonik IPS (5.17%), PharmaResearch (3.88%), Ligachem Biosciences (3.21%), Samchundang Pharm (3.19%), ABL Bio (2.9%) and Peptron (2.05%) are also advancing.
The won-dollar exchange rate, which had hovered in the low 1,420 won range early in the session, is now at 1,429.10 won.
