An explosion of unknown cause occurred on the 31st (local time) at a building in Bandar Abbas, a southern Iranian port city, AFP reported, citing Iran's state media.
According to Iran's state broadcaster, the blast took place in an eight-story building on Moallem Street in Bandar Abbas, destroying two floors of the building, shops and several vehicles. Rescue workers and firefighters were reportedly dispatched to the scene.
Some posts on social media (SNS) claimed the explosion targeted a commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, but Iran's semi-official Tasnim News Agency rebutted the claim as "completely false," Reuters reported.
