It has emerged that xAI, the artificial intelligence (AI) company founded by Elon Musk, has begun recruiting a crypto finance specialist.

According to The Block, a cryptocurrency-focused media outlet, xAI recently posted a job opening on its official careers page for a remote “Crypto Finance Expert” role. Compensation was presented at $45 per hour, up to $100 per hour.

The hire is positioned as a role that directly supports the training and advancement of xAI’s next-generation AI models, with specialized analysis of the crypto market and the provision of refined data cited as core responsibilities. xAI said the position will “directly participate in the training, evaluation and optimization of AI models, providing high-quality annotated datasets on crypto markets, quantitative analysis, and expert-level reasoning data.”

The scope of work includes on-chain data and fund-flow analysis; modeling DeFi yields and liquidity; perpetual futures and funding-rate strategies; arbitrage between centralized and decentralized exchanges; and research into crypto market microstructure and MEV. The role also calls for developing machine learning-based alpha signals, as well as portfolio management and risk controls in a 24-hour, highly volatile market environment.

The position additionally requires producing analysis not only in text but also in audio and video formats for use in AI model training and performance benchmarking. It is structured to go beyond simple research and to be deeply involved in the actual production of AI training data.

Qualifications include a master’s or PhD in relevant fields such as quantitative finance, computer science or statistics, or practical experience in crypto quantitative trading, systematic trading, or on-chain analytics. Understanding of major crypto data platforms and on-chain analytics tools was also listed as a requirement.
