The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) said it does not view the ongoing Supreme Court lawsuit over tariffs as a matter likely to be decided in the plaintiffs’ favor. At the same time, it said India has agreed to reduce tariffs on U.S. exports.

According to Walter Bloomberg, an overseas economic news alert channel, USTR Representative Jamieson Greer said in an interview with CNBC on the 3rd that the tariff case before the Supreme Court is not an “open and shut” case, suggesting the chances of the plaintiffs’ arguments being accepted as-is are limited.

He also said regarding trade talks with India that “India has agreed to lower tariffs on U.S. products,” signaling that trade tensions between the two countries could ease somewhat.
