Digital-asset legislative discussions within the U.S. Democratic Party—widely seen as having lost momentum for a time—are turning positive again.
According to Eleanor Terrett, host of Crypto America, on the 5th (local time), a Democratic staffer familiar with the party’s internal meeting held that day said on condition of anonymity that “the discussions were positive overall, and it was the most productive Democratic meeting so far.”
The person added, “As recently as just a few weeks ago, this legislative effort looked as if it had effectively been put on hold, but that is not the case at all at this point,” stressing that “the talks are still alive.”
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer also attended the meeting and was said to have underscored the importance of continued communication and engagement with the digital-asset industry, delivering a message that the push behind the legislative talks should be sustained.
However, attendees said some lawmakers are still raising specific requests and issues, leaving the effort at a stage where detailed coordination is needed. Even so, within the Democratic Party there is an assessment that—contrary to the earlier perception that digital-asset legislation had stalled—the discussions are back on track.
