Woori Card is pushing ahead with cooperation with Travel Wallet on next-generation payment services, including digital-asset linkage.

Woori Card said on the 5th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with travel card specialist Travel Wallet to strengthen strategic cooperation in digital finance and payment services. The signing ceremony was held on the 4th at Woori Card’s headquarters in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, with key officials from both companies in attendance, including Woori Card CEO Jin Seong-won and Travel Wallet CEO Kim Hyeong-woo.

Through the agreement, the two companies plan to move beyond a product structure centered on traditional plastic cards and review the potential for platform-based services that combine payment infrastructure with digital wallet technology. In particular, alongside the advancement of services spanning overseas travel and everyday payments, they plan to discuss as a mid-to-long-term task payment and asset-management models linked to digital assets.

Specifically, they will explore joint business opportunities focused on collaboration on co-branded card products and the expansion of digital wallet-based services linked to payment services. The direction is to broaden the scope of cooperation across digital finance beyond short-term product partnerships.

Over the mid to long term, the two companies also plan to review, in stages, measures for digital-asset-based payments and platform integration. The move reflects an effort with a structure in mind that connects regulated finance with the digital-asset sphere by combining digital wallets and card payment infrastructure.

A Woori Card official said, "This agreement is a strategic partnership to advance digital wallets and payment infrastructure together beyond a simple alliance," adding, "We will continue our review so that we can provide a new payment experience that includes the possibility of linking digital assets across travel and everyday life."
