Irys, a data-focused blockchain project, has launched a bridge service integrated with LayerZero, an omnichain interoperability protocol. The initiative aims to broaden the scope of data-driven blockchain use cases by linking assets and data dispersed across Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain (BSC) to the Irys network.

On the 5th, Irys officially unveiled the LayerZero-integrated bridge and said it has built infrastructure that can connect the large pool of liquidity and data assets formed within the Ethereum and BSC ecosystems to the Irys network. The bridge was implemented based on network performance that has been validated by handling multiple wallets and large-scale transactions since the mainnet launch in December last year.

Irys is focusing on the fact that large-scale datasets—such as AI training data, verification logs, and medical and scientific datasets—have remained within existing centralized structures, limiting their use. Its goal is to implement on blockchain a structure in which data can be treated as an economic asset rather than merely something to store.

The company explained that, through integration with LayerZero, Ethereum-based DeFi assets and liquidity from the BSC ecosystem are being connected to the Irys network, laying the groundwork for combining data storage and verification use cases with financial infrastructure. Irys expects this to expand new use cases that combine data and cryptoassets.

Josh Benaron, founder and CEO of Irys, said of the changing role of data infrastructure, "Just as the semiconductor industry has created value through physical storage layers, Irys is focused on creating economic value in the layers of data trust and utilization," adding, "An environment where reliable data can be used immediately will be a core component of next-generation AI infrastructure."

Irys said it will continue advancing the protocol even after this bridge launch to expand use cases that combine data and finance.
