Summary

  • Changpeng Zhao said he reshared his past remark, "I'm poor again," amid a sharp Bitcoin (BTC) sell-off.
  • He noted that Bitcoin once plunged from $67,000 to the $30,000 range, but emphasized that "it ended up turning out fine."
  • He said Bitcoin is currently correcting to as low as $66,917.36, down 8.58% from the previous day.

Changpeng Zhao, founder of Binance, said he was "poor again" amid a sharp Bitcoin (BTC) downturn. By resharing a remark he had made during a previous price slump, he indirectly alluded to current market conditions.

On the 5th (local time), Zhao reposted on X (formerly Twitter) an earlier post from January 2022 with the same wording. He explained, "The last time I posted this, it was when Bitcoin plunged from $67,000 to the $30,000 range."

He added, "But it ended up turning out fine." The comment is seen as emphasizing that prices recovered after the market sell-off at the time.

Bitcoin is currently undergoing a sizable correction. At one point during the day, it traded at $66,917.36, down 8.58% from the previous day.

Market participants say Zhao’s remarks do not directly offer investment guidance, but are being taken as a message that recalls the rebound experienced after past drawdowns. With global macro uncertainty rising and volatility spreading across risk assets, Bitcoin is also facing mounting correction pressure.
