Dunamu, the operator of digital-asset exchange Upbit, said on the 6th that it donated Bitcoin worth KRW 100 million to the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, expressing support for the South Korean national team’s performance at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.

Upbit said it made the digital-asset donation at Korea House in Milan, Italy—where the Winter Olympics are being held—on the 5th local time, to back national team athletes’ challenges and the development of winter sports in South Korea.

Upbit will continue its support through a range of marketing initiatives, including a campaign delivering messages of encouragement to all 71 national team athletes throughout the Olympic period running through the 22nd starting with today’s opening ceremony, as well as hosting Olympics-themed events in the Upbit app. Upbit is set to serve as an official sponsor through December 2028.

Yoo Seung-min, president of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, said, “Upbit’s special donation as a reliable official partner will be a major source of motivation for the athletes,” adding, “We will put the donation to valuable use in advancing winter sports in South Korea, including nurturing youth athletes in winter disciplines.”
