U.S. President Donald Trump touted the Dow Jones Industrial Average’s (Dow) first-ever break above 50,000 as one of his biggest achievements, boasting that he will usher in an “era of Dow 100,000” during his term.

On the 6th (local time), Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social that his tough tariff policy had driven economic growth, while stepping up attacks on Democrats with an eye on the upcoming midterm elections. “Experts said it would be a great accomplishment if I reached Dow 50,000 by the end of my term, but today I achieved that milestone three years ahead of schedule,” he said.

He pointed to tariffs as the main engine behind the market boom. “Our great tariffs (Great TARIFFS) have delivered a record stock market and national security,” Trump said, adding, “I predict the Dow will reach 100,000 points by the end of my term.”

He also delivered a political message aimed at rallying his base ahead of the midterms. “Remember in the midterm elections that if the Democrats take power, they will wreck the economy,” he said, adding, “Don’t forget the fact that TRUMP WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING.”

One line near the end of the post drew particular attention: “I hope the U.S. Supreme Court is watching (this achievement).” The remark is seen as an attempt to indirectly pressure the judiciary by highlighting economic results amid various ongoing legal disputes.
