Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi expressed her gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump for publicly backing her.
At around 12:30 a.m. on the 9th, Takaichi posted in English and Japanese on her X (formerly Twitter) account, writing, "I am sincerely grateful for President Trump's warm words."
Takaichi said, "I look forward to visiting the White House this spring so that we can move ahead together with additional steps to further strengthen the Japan-U.S. alliance," adding, "The potential of our alliance is limitless." She continued, "Let us work together so that the Japan-U.S. alliance brings peace and prosperity to both countries and the world."
Takaichi also attached to the post Trump's message on Truth Social.
Earlier, on the 5th (local time), Trump referred to Japan's general election on Truth Social and voiced his support for Takaichi.
"Prime Minister Takaichi has already proven that she is a strong, powerful and wise leader who truly loves her country," Trump wrote, adding, "She will not let the Japanese people down," as he wished Takaichi good luck.
