Elon Musk publicly praised Grok for delivering strong results in an AI cryptocurrency trading competition. The assessment is that it outperformed other models by posting a high return in a contest based on live trading.

According to BlockBeats, a crypto-focused media outlet, Musk said on the 8th via X (formerly Twitter) that, referencing Grok’s performance in the AI trading competition “Alpha Arena,” “We need to do better, and we will.”

Grok 4.20 is currently holding the top spot on Alpha Arena’s leaderboard, lifting its 10-day cumulative return from about 12% to around 35%. This is the best performance among the other AI models participating in the same contest, and all of Grok’s variants were shown to have moved into positive-return territory.

Grok’s presence is also prominent at the top of the leaderboard. Four of the top six models are from the Grok family, while GPT-5.1-4 MAX and DEEPSEEK-CHAT-V3.1 took second and third place, respectively.
