The founders of decentralized social media platform Farcaster have joined stablecoin startup Tempo. The move marks a shift into the stablecoin space following Farcaster’s sale.

According to crypto industry outlet The Block on the 9th (local time), Farcaster co-founders Dan Romero and Varun Srinivasan have joined Tempo. The two had stepped back from day-to-day management after Farcaster was recently acquired by Neynar.

Romero wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that “stablecoins are a generational opportunity,” adding that he would “work with Tempo co-founder Matt Huang and the entire team to help stablecoins become mainstream.” Srinivasan is also said to have decided to join after aligning with Tempo’s long-term vision.

Tempo is a startup developing stablecoin-based payments and financial infrastructure, aiming to connect the traditional financial system with blockchain networks. As discussions around stablecoin adoption expand across global finance and Big Tech, interest in related startups is also rising.

Farcaster has been regarded as a leading project in decentralized social media, highlighting the potential of Web3-based social networks. The founders’ latest move is seen as evidence that the center of gravity within Web3 infrastructure is shifting toward payments and money.

The industry is watching whether the Farcaster founders’ arrival could bolster Tempo’s technology and network expansion. At the same time, as regulatory debates around the stablecoin market gather pace, attention is also on what strategies their experience may translate into.
