Michael Saylor, founder of Strategy (MSTR), projected that Bitcoin (BTC) will significantly outperform the S&P 500—America’s benchmark stock index—over the coming years.
In a CNBC Squawk Box interview on the 10th (local time), Saylor said, "I expect Bitcoin over the next 4 to 8 years to deliver two to three times—or more—the return of the S&P index."
Commenting on Bitcoin’s recent price volatility, he said, "We’re not going to sell. We’re going to buy. We’ll keep buying Bitcoin every quarter," adding, "Volatility is ultimately one of Bitcoin’s attractions. Investors with a long-term perspective focus on long-term performance rather than short-term fluctuations."
Saylor has long viewed Bitcoin as a long-term store of value and a capital-efficient asset. He reiterated that he will maintain the company’s existing stance of steadily accumulating Bitcoin as part of its corporate treasury strategy.
Strategy recently bought an additional 1,142 BTC at an average price of $78,815. The purchase totaled about $90 million.
Strategy is one of the best-known listed companies to position Bitcoin as a core treasury asset, and it continues its long-term holding strategy despite price swings. These moves are also having a direct impact on the company’s capital structure and shareholder value strategy.
