U.S. President Donald Trump reaffirmed his confidence in Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick despite a controversy related to Jeffrey Epstein. The White House said Lutnick faces no issues whatsoever in carrying out his duties.

On the 10th (local time), according to the breaking-economy news account Walter Bloomberg, the White House said in a statement that President Trump "fully trusts and strongly supports" Commerce Secretary Lutnick. The remark comes after questions were raised about Lutnick’s past connections and whether he had any contact following the release of Epstein-related documents.

A White House official said Lutnick has not been implicated in any illegal activity and that the allegations currently being raised lack substantiation. The official added that Lutnick is a key figure leading the Trump administration’s trade and industrial policies, and that there will be no disruption to policy implementation.

Previously released Epstein-related materials included the names of numerous figures from politics and business, widening the fallout. In the process, some of Lutnick’s past connections were mentioned, but no direct evidence of wrongdoing was confirmed.

The White House cautioned against the spread of the controversy, saying it is inappropriate to question a senior official’s role based solely on unverified claims or mere associations. Trump was also reported to have told close aides that his trust in Lutnick remains unchanged.
