As the virtual-asset (cryptocurrency) market enters a correction phase, Korean listed companies are continuing to purchase Bitcoin (BTC) under their digital-asset treasury (DAT) strategies.

According to industry sources on the 15th, some Korean listed firms have been accumulating additional Bitcoin this year despite market weakness. The trend mirrors overseas DAT players such as U.S.-based Strategy and Japan’s Metaplanet, which have continued buying during the selloff. The move is seen as an attempt to lower average purchase costs by taking advantage of price declines.

Game company Nexth, led by CEO Jang Hyun-kuk, recently raised a total of KRW 13.3 billion to strengthen its DAT strategy. Of that, KRW 11.3 billion is planned to be deployed to acquire Bitcoin, Tether (USDT), and tokens for its own projects. Jang is also said to have participated in the paid-in capital increase with KRW 5.0 billion.

KOSDAQ-listed Parataxis Korea also bought an additional 50 Bitcoin earlier this month. Following the purchase, its holdings exceeded 200.

The industry says that even though guidelines for virtual-asset investment by domestic corporations have yet to be established, some companies are proactively reinforcing long-term holding strategies. The view is that they are approaching it from a medium- to long-term asset-allocation perspective rather than focusing on short-term volatility.
