Sergey Nazarov, co-founder of the decentralized oracle network Chainlink (LINK), has joined the Technology Advisory Committee under the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

On the 15th, crypto-focused U.S. media outlet Crypto Briefing reported that the CFTC appointed Nazarov as a member of its Technology Advisory Committee. The committee was formed under the leadership of CFTC Chairman Michael Selig and advises on how emerging technologies affect market structure and regulatory frameworks.

Nazarov said, "It is important that the CFTC is actively engaging with the industry and working to establish clear rules, as this helps strengthen innovation and reinforce the United States' leadership in global markets."

Chainlink provides oracle infrastructure that connects smart contracts to external data. Its cumulative transaction value enabled is said to exceed $25 trillion. More recently, it has been expanding data feeds for institutional investors and cross-chain interoperability tools, bolstering adoption within regulated markets.

The advisory committee also includes representatives from traditional finance and digital asset firms such as Nasdaq, CME Group, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), Coinbase and Robinhood. The CFTC said it will seek a balance between promoting innovation driven by new technology adoption and ensuring market integrity.

An oracle refers to a technology that brings web data that exists outside the blockchain into the blockchain.
