Summary

  • WisdomTree said the digital-asset market is shifting from a retail investor-led speculative phase to a stage of strategic asset allocation by institutional investors.
  • WisdomTree said that as institutional investors take the lead, strategic investing based on portfolio management principles is expanding, and as institutional capital concentrates, volatility is easing.
  • WisdomTree said regulation is acting as a filter that screens market participants rather than a blocking barrier, and that the debate is shifting from whether to hold assets to how to use and integrate them.

An analysis suggests that the digital-asset (cryptocurrency) market is moving away from a speculation phase dominated by retail investors and into a stage of strategic asset allocation by institutional investors.

According to crypto-focused outlet Decrypt on the 16th (local time), U.S. asset manager WisdomTree said in a recent report that "the growth phase of digital assets is over, and the era of repeated booms and busts driven by retail investors has passed."

WisdomTree explained that "as institutional investors take the lead in the market, investment approaches are shifting from speculation toward strategic investing based on portfolio management principles," adding that "as institutional capital concentrates, volatility is also gradually easing."

It also added that "regulation is functioning not as a blocking barrier but as a filter that screens market participants."

It went on to say that "the focus of debate within the market is also shifting from whether to hold digital assets to how to use and integrate them."
