Sharplink, a Nasdaq-listed company that has said it will strategically build a stockpile of Ethereum (ETH), was found to hold 867,798 ETH as of Feb. 15.
According to The Block, a crypto-focused media outlet, the holdings are worth about $1.68 billion. The company was reported to have received 13,615 ETH in staking rewards over about a year.
Sharplink CEO Joseph Chalom said, “We are staking nearly all of our Ethereum holdings,” adding, “Volatility has increased recently, but we are still increasing our holdings.”
He added, “Institutional investors believe that Sharplink will create long-term value for shareholders regardless of price.”
According to a recently released securities holdings report (13F), institutional investors accounted for 46% of Sharplink common stock as of Dec. 31 last year. About 60 new institutional investors were tallied as having entered during the fourth quarter.
