Trump declares the US has entered a “golden age”… touts easing inflation and $18 trillion in capital inflows

President Donald Trump declared that the US economy has entered a golden age, highlighting stabilizing inflation and large-scale capital inflows.

In a state of the nation address on the 24th (local time), Trump said, “The United States will mark the 250th anniversary of Independence Day on July 4 this year,” adding that “America is entering a golden age.” He said that when he delivered his address last December, there was turmoil including a weakened economy, record inflation, an open border and employment issues, but that “in just one year we achieved an unprecedented transformation.”

Trump said, “We will never go back to that period,” citing tighter border control, stabilizing inflation, rising incomes and a booming economy as key achievements. He added that “America is being respected again.”

On illegal immigration, he said that “over the past four years, millions of illegal immigrants poured in, but now illegal immigrants cannot enter,” adding that “we are always open to legal immigration.” He also claimed that fentanyl inflows fell by more than 56% in a year and that the murder rate hit its lowest level in 125 years.

On economic performance, he said, “Over the past 12 months, more than $18 trillion has flowed into the United States from around the world,” adding that “the stock market has notched 53 record highs, and the value of retirement accounts for millions of Americans is also rising.” He added, “America has once again become the hottest country in the world.”
