Ethereum whales expand positions despite downturn…lower average entry price with additional buying
Summary
- Ethereum (ETH) whale investors said that even during a broad market sell-off, they continued accumulating, with the realized price turning downward.
- Over the same period, both whale balances and realized market capitalization increased, suggesting activity closer to net buying than selling, and that they are expanding positions even amid weakness.
- Amid moves in total crypto market cap, the Fear & Greed Index, and the Ethereum price, analysts said ongoing whale accumulation could help ease downside pressure.

Ethereum (ETH) whale investors appear to be continuing to accumulate even during a broad market rout.
According to ZiWiCrypto on the 24th (local time), CryptoQuant analyst CryptoMe said the realized price of the Ethereum whale cohort has recently turned downward. He explained, “A drop in realized price typically reflects an adjustment in average cost basis due to selling near highs, or a lower average entry price resulting from additional purchases at lower levels.”
However, because both whale balances and realized market capitalization increased over the same period, the shift is interpreted as closer to net buying than selling. CryptoMe said, “No notable selling activity is being observed in this cohort,” adding that they are “expanding positions even amid weakness.”
This trend contrasts with the broader market’s contraction. CryptoQuant data show that total crypto market capitalization fell by $730.59 billion over the past 100 days. Bitcoin declined by $347.9 billion, from $1.6968 trillion to $1.3489 trillion.
Total crypto market capitalization currently stands at $2.25 trillion, up 1.01% over the past 24 hours. The Fear & Greed Index is at 12, remaining in the “Extreme Fear” zone. Ethereum rose 3.86% to $1,893.
While the market is seen as likely to remain volatile in the near term, analysts say continued whale accumulation could help ease downside pressure.
