Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) executives met with Republican senators and stressed the need to swiftly pass legislation on crypto market structure.

On the 26th (local time), Eleanor Terrett, host of CryptoAmerica, wrote on X that Marc Andreessen, co-founder of Andreessen Horowitz, and Chris Dixon, head of a16z Crypto, had lunch with Republican senators to discuss the future path for advancing crypto market structure legislation. The participants also reportedly emphasized that the United States must maintain global leadership in both crypto assets and artificial intelligence (AI).

Colin McCune, a16z’s head of government affairs, also wrote on X: “Today’s meeting was mainly a discussion about the path forward for crypto market structure legislation,” adding, “AI was also on the agenda, and it is important that the U.S. remains a global leader in both technologies.”

Recently, in the U.S. Congress, discussions on a market structure bill that would clarify the criteria for distinguishing securities from commodities in crypto assets and allocate supervisory authority have been reignited. The industry expects that if the legislation passes, regulatory uncertainty will ease and it will bolster the competitiveness of the U.S. blockchain and AI industries.
