Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum (ETH), has been found to have sold Ethereum worth USD 33 million (about KRW 47 billion) so far this month.

According to Onchain Lens on the 25th (local time), Buterin has sold 16,420 Ethereum from the 2nd of this month through recently. The average selling price was calculated at about USD 2,000 per coin. The total proceeds amounted to about USD 32.84 million.

Initially, the amount of Ethereum Buterin planned to sell totaled 16,384 coins. The actual amount sold therefore slightly exceeded what Buterin had signaled in advance.

Buterin moved to sell in order to support the Ethereum ecosystem. Onchain Lens said, "This sale aligns with the Ethereum Foundation's 'mild austerity' strategy," adding, "The secured funds are set to be reallocated to security, privacy, core research and development (R&D), and strengthening long-term ecosystem sustainability."

Meanwhile, Ethereum's price regained the USD 2,000 level on the day. According to CoinMarketCap, Ethereum was trading at USD 2,066.23 as of 3:29 p.m., up 9.15% from the previous day. That marks a 4.32% rise compared with a week earlier.
