The Indiana Legislature has passed a bill allowing retirement pensions to invest in cryptocurrencies.

According to CoinDesk on the 26th (local time), the Indiana Legislature passed House Bill 1042 the previous day (25th). The core of the bill is to allow public retirement pensions to invest in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) and related exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

The bill will take effect once Indiana Governor Mike Braun signs it. CoinDesk reported that "Governor Braun is expected to sign the bill within the next 10 days."

Indiana is not the only state pursuing such a measure. Currently, seven U.S. states—including Wyoming, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Arizona—are moving to integrate cryptocurrencies and related financial products into public investment frameworks.

CoinDesk said that "a total of 21 states are reviewing cryptocurrency investments or have already invested," adding that "this trend has spread significantly after U.S. President Donald Trump instructed the administration to establish a strategic Bitcoin reserve."

Meanwhile, on the 24th, the Indiana Legislature banned the operation of cryptocurrency ATMs. The move followed an increase in cryptocurrency ATM-related fraud in the United States.
