According to Walter Bloomberg, an overseas economic breaking-news channel, on the 2nd, Secretary Hegseth said of the Iran operation, "There will be no need to set a timetable." He added that the 4–5 week timetable mentioned by President Trump "could change."

He stressed that "there are currently no U.S. ground forces in Iran," while adding, "I will not predict what we will or will not do." He also said, "We are not ruling out any option in the Iran war," and added, "We fight to win."

He further noted that "Iran possesses long-range strike capabilities."
