Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, said X’s (formerly Twitter) payments service, “X Money,” is set to go public next month.

On the 10th, Musk wrote on his X account, “The initial release of X Money will begin next month.”

X Money is seen as a core service in Musk’s push for an “everything app” strategy. Musk has laid out a plan to develop the X platform into an all-in-one platform integrating payments and messaging, artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots, and content services.

Previously, Musk said in February that he plans to roll out X Money to users worldwide in stages after an external beta test. The service is reported to have been in internal testing since at least May 2025.

So far, it has not been confirmed whether X Money will support cryptocurrency payments. However, given Musk’s repeated favorable remarks about Dogecoin (DOGE), the possibility that crypto payment features could be included in the future has also been raised.

Eligibility for the beta test is limited to users aged 18 or older residing in the United States who have an X account in good standing. Selected users may be provided with a metal “X Money” debit card issued in partnership with Visa.

Meanwhile, X has been preparing to launch a person-to-person payments service, securing money transmission licenses in more than 40 U.S. states in recent years and registering with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).
